Duaringa Coal Project

 

MCG Resources was granted EPC1401 on 29 April 2009.

The tenement is located approximately 10km west and south of the township of Duaringa in Central Queensland, within the Central Highlands Regional local government area. It is immediately east and west of EPC881 held by Independent Coal Pty Ltd, a company 100% owned by Cockatoo Coal Pty Ltd.

 

The Capricorn Highway lies approximately 1km north the tenement. Access to the tenement area from the north is from the Fitzroy Developmental Road and the Capricorn Highway near Duaringa. A high capacity rail corridor also exists approximately 1km north the tenement, connecting through to Gladstone. The distance from the tenement to the port facility is approximately 220km.

Geology

Geological Structure and Setting EPC1401 is situated on the eastern flank of the Mimosa Syncline where complex faulting and folding is known to occur. Stratigraphy The area is covered by upper permian and triassic sediments unconformably overlain by Tertiary sandstones. Other key aspects of the regional geology include permian age Rangal Coal Measures which trend in a north-west south-east direction.
